How is a battle calculated?
Total attack is compared with total defence. The stronger side wins; the weaker side's strength decides how many the winner loses.
- Attack: sum of the attackers' attack values (with Blacksmith levels), times bonuses (hero, War Banner, Brewery) and times morale.
- Defence: every army in the village defends. Each unit counts its defence against infantry and against cavalry, mixed by how much of the attack is infantry or cavalry.
- Add a base defence of 10, plus 2 x level x level for a Residence or Palace. Multiply by the wall bonus and defence bonuses.
- If attack is higher than defence, the attacker wins.
Normal attack: the loser loses all troops. The winner loses (weaker / stronger) to the power of about 1.5. Example: attack twice as strong as defence, the attacker loses about 35%.
Raid: both sides lose a part. With attack twice the defence, the attacker loses about 26% and the defender about 74%.
Very big battles hurt the winner a bit more (the power falls from 1.5 to about 1.26).
Scouts add no attack in battles. Rams, catapults and chiefs count as infantry.
Test any fight first in the Combat simulator. It uses the same code as real battles.
