- Main BuildingThe Main Building makes all construction faster: about 3.6% per level, so level 20 builds in half the time. It is needed for many other buildings.
- Rally PointYou need a Rally Point to send troops. Each level allows 5 outgoing troop movements at once, and higher levels let catapults aim at more buildings.
- Great Warehouse and Great GranaryThey store three times as much as a normal Warehouse or Granary, but you can only build them with a Storage master plan artifact or in a World Wonder village.
- EmbassyEmbassy level 1 lets you join an alliance; level 3 lets you found one. The leader's Embassy level sets the alliance size: 3 members per level.
- Barracks, Stable, Workshop and the Great Barracks / StableBarracks train infantry, the Stable cavalry and the Workshop rams and catapults. Each level trains 10% faster; Great Barracks and Great Stable train in parallel at 3 times the cost.
- Residence and PalaceBoth train settlers and chiefs and give expansion slots. You can have only one Palace, and the village with it becomes your capital. A village has either a Residence or a Palace, never both.
- TreasuryThe Treasury holds an artifact. You need level 10 for a small artifact and level 20 for a large or unique one, and one Treasury holds only one artifact.
- Trade OfficeEach Trade Office level lets your merchants carry 10% more (level 20: twice as much).
- Hero's MansionTrain your hero here. At levels 10, 15 and 20 the village can hold one more oasis (3 at most).
- Tournament SquareTroops from this village move 10% faster per level, but only for the part of the trip beyond 30 fields.
- Stonemason's LodgeOnly in your capital: buildings and the wall are 10% sturdier against rams and catapults per level.
- Brewery (Teutons)Teutons only, in the capital: +1% attack per level for all your troops. While you have one, your chiefs lower loyalty only half as much.
- Horse Drinking Trough (Romans)Romans only: cavalry trains 1% faster per level, and from levels 10, 15 and 20 Equites Legati, Imperatoris and Caesaris eat 1 crop less each.
- How many things can I build at once? (Master Builder)Normally one construction at a time per village. Romans can build one field and one building at once. Master Builder (10 Gold, 7 days) adds one more builder.
- How do I demolish a building? With Main Building level 10 you can demolish a village building one level at a time. It takes half the build time and gives nothing back.
- Why do my buildings look different at higher levels?Buildings get a grander picture at levels 5, 10, 15 and 20. Walls show wooden spikes at levels 1-4 and then the tribe's own wall in four stages.
- How do I rename my village?Click the village name (or the pencil) above the village picture, type a new name and press Save or Enter.
- Building requirements (what do I need first?)Most buildings need other buildings first. This table lists every requirement; the empty-place page also shows what is "available later".
